What is Bottom of Funnel (BOFU)?

Nexa Consultancy | Startup & Finance Glossary

Bottom of Funnel (BOFU) is the final stage of the buyer's journey, where a qualified prospect is ready to make a purchase decision. Marketing and sales efforts at this stage are focused on conversion.

Base Term for Startups: At the BOFU stage, you are actively trying to close the deal. The prospect is convinced they need a solution like yours; you just need to convince them that your product is the right choice.

Base Term for B2B/SaaS: Common BOFU activities include free trials, product demos, implementation consultations, and providing detailed pricing quotes. This is where the sales team is most heavily involved.

Base Term Example: A Sales Qualified Lead (SQL) who has seen a demo is now offered a 14-day free trial of the premium version of the product to test it with their team. This is a BOFU offer designed to lead to a final purchase.
