What is Business Plan?
Nexa Consultancy | Startup & Finance Glossary
A business plan is a formal written document containing a company's goals, the methods for attaining those goals, and the timeframe for the achievement of the goals. It provides a roadmap for the business.
Base Term for Startups: While detailed, 100-page business plans are less common now, the process of thinking through the components of a business plan is still critical. For modern startups, the business plan is often distilled into a concise pitch deck and a detailed financial model. You can use our Simple Business Plan Template to get started.
For Founders: The main value of a business plan is not the document itself, but the process of creating it. It forces founders to think critically about their market, competition, operations, and financial projections.
Base Term Example: A founder preparing for a bank loan would create a detailed business plan that includes market analysis, operational plans, and 5-year financial projections to prove the viability of the venture to the lender.
