Conversion Rate is a crucial marketing and sales metric that measures the percentage of users or leads who complete a desired action. This action can be anything from making a purchase to signing up for a newsletter, starting a free trial, or requesting a demo. It is a key indicator of how effective your marketing funnel and user experience are at guiding users toward a goal.
For Startups: For a startup, tracking conversion rates at different stages of the funnel is essential for identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization. A low conversion rate on a pricing page, for example, might indicate that the pricing is unclear or too high. Improving conversion rates is one of the most effective ways to grow a business without increasing marketing spend.
Calculation: Conversion Rate = (Number of Conversions / Total Number of Visitors or Leads) * 100%.
Example: If 5,000 visitors land on an e-commerce product page and 100 of them make a purchase, the conversion rate for that page is 2%.
